Ponsse Ergo processor

Hardwood stands are typically cut using the "shortwood" logging method.  This is a system where the trees are felled and bucked in the forest instead of felling trees and dragging the entire tree out with a skidder.  This process is less destructive to the forest floor and residual trees than the whole tree logging method is.  This ponnse processor was used to cut most of the trees in this thinning.  The larger trees were felled and bucked with a chainsaw.  A forwarder then brought the bucked logs to the landing.
